AWS will launch the next generation 3M™ Speedglas™ 9100 auto-darkening welding shield at the Safety in Action Exhibition 29th April - 1st May in Melbourne and the National Manufacturing Week Exhibition 27-30th May in Sydney. The new Speedglas 9100 series only the fourth in 27 years replaces the Speedglas 9000 series, becoming the new product benchmark for the entire market of premium personal protective equipment for welders. All welding fumes contain pollutants that can damage the respiratory passages, lungs and even nervous system. In 2000 AWS released the 3M™ Adflo™ - a new powered respiratory protection system designed for welders. By leading filtered air into the welding helmet, the user avoids inhaling welding fumes and dust while working. The system provides a steady stream of filtered air which also prevents warmth and humidity from entering the inside of the welding helmet. AWS has launched the latest addition to the series of Speedglas auto-darkening welding shields. In 2004 a newly-developed electronics unit prepared the ground for the Speedglas 9002 welding lenses. Now AWS has released an additional model in this range, the Speedglas 9002D, an auto-darkening welding lens with two selectable shades and sensitivity levels. Read more »
